Eagle Hill students scoop up success with new ice cream flavor for local shop

Fayetteville-Manlius School District students churned up ideas for original ice cream flavors and one of those flavors will be making its public debut at a local sweet shop this summer.

The eighth-grade students at Eagle Hill Middle School partnered with Gabrielle’s Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop of Manlius as part of an annual English Language Arts project.

Students are tasked with developing their own ice cream flavor and a corresponding sales pitch video. Using descriptive writing skills and an online video editing platform, students showcase the originality and creativity of their flavors.

The sales pitches are presented to the owners of Gabrielle’s Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop, Gabrielle Regan and Matt Monroe, who select the winning flavor and create it at their shop.

At an unveiling held at Eagle Hill on June 14, Matt announced this year’s winning flavor: Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl Banana Pudding. Created by John Henry Davies and James Duffy, it features banana ice cream loaded with Nilla Wafers and a chocolate hazelnut swirl. It will be available for purchase by the scoop and in cartons this summer at the shop.
