• The building principal is responsible for the implementation of the Section 504 accommodation plans and will notify appropriate school personnel of students’ 504 plans prior to the beginning of school.

  • At the first Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Team meeting in September the committee will review each 504 student to make certain that every student is being serviced adequately and the student’s case manager is identified.

  • Case manager(s) will be designated and identified at the initial 504 meeting. The counselor at the secondary level will be the case manager to oversee the 504 student’s program with regard to schedule changes and academic progress.

  • If a 504 student receives one or more related services or has resource teacher involvement, a second person will be identified as a “co-case manager” along with the student’s counselor.

  • At the high school level, the counselor will explain the test center to the 504 student if applicable and introduce the student to the test center staff.

  • PPS Teams will review all 504 students’ progress at the beginning of the second semester.

  • If a student transfers to the district with an existing 504 plan, the following will occur:

    • The Building Administrator is notified of the new 504 student and reviews existing student records. (At the secondary level, the counselor will notify the Building Administrator.)

    • The Administrator sends the 504 Plan to teachers (similar to an administrative placement).

    • The PPS reviews the 504 Plan to determine eligibility and appropriateness of accommodations.

    • 504 meeting is held with parents.
