Reminder: District to close on May 24, 2013

There will be an important change to the Fayetteville-Manlius School District May 2013 calendar.
Because the district did not use its emergency school closure days allotted for the 2012-13 school year, the district is on track to fulfill the number of days that students are required to attend school.

“The year has been challenging for both students and staff, and we appreciate the assistance you provide in reaching the rigorous goals set forth by the state and the district,” said S... (Continued)

Voters decide May 21 on new capital reserve fund

On May 21, the
Fayetteville-Manlius School District will be asking voters to decide on the
creation of a new $10 million capital reserve fund.

A capital reserve
fund allows school districts to set aside money for future construction
projects and major purchases. Most school districts have capital reserve funds,
and in 2010, F-M residents voted to create a $5 million capital reserve fund.

In 2011 and again
in March, voters authorized the district to use money from that fund toward
facilities improvement projects, allowing the projects to be completed with no
new property tax levy... (Continued)

The Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s district
office parking lot is being expanded to accommodate more vehicles, improve
traffic flow and make safer F-M High School student drop-off and pick-up.

“Our existing parking lot does not offer enough parking
for the number of community members, parents, staff and students who use it,” Superintendent
Corliss Kaiser said. “When there are events taking place at the nearby athletic
fields, people often park in the grass around the parking lot because there are
