Advanced Placement Art is part of a national program by the College Board and is recognized by most colleges and art schools.
It offers students the opportunity to gain three hours of college credit or advanced standing in one of three categories: Drawing Portfolio, Design Portfolio, or Sculpture Portfolio.
The amount of college credit is based on the evaluation of the portfolio work sent to the College Board in May.
Advanced Placement Art is organized on a seminar basis allowing motivated students the experience of college level work with guidelines covering: Quality, the development of a sense of excellence in art; Concentration, a commitment in depth to a particular artistic concern; and Breadth, a variety of experiences in formal technical and expressive means of artistic expression.
