Fayetteville-Manlius elementary students recently created and displayed messages of positivity in their schools main hallway in support of building a welcoming, affirming and kind school environment.
On March 2, the students in The Kindness Club Dialogue Program at Enders Road, Fayetteville and Mott Road elementary schools read “Words and Your Heart,” by Kate Jane Neal, a book about the power of words and their ability to affect how we feel.
The students were inspired to create a “Powerful Words” display in each elementary building and encouraged all students in grades 3 and 4 to add their own positive messages in an effort to spread kindness.
The Kindness Club Dialogue Program is open to third and fourth-grade students who are invited to be collaborators, listeners, contributors and leaders in creating an environment of belonging and kindness. The program partners with InterFaith Works’ El-Hindi Center for Dialogue and Actions, a program that addresses community concerns and promotes understanding across racial, ethnic, religious and community differences.
