A Fayetteville-Manlius High School student will be bringing her music skills to the sunshine state next month.
Senior Lucy Langenberg is one of more than 600 high school students nationwide who has been chosen to participate in this year’s All-National Honor Ensembles as part of the National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) annual conference Nov. 28-29 in Orlando, FL.
Fifty students from New York state have been selected to participate in the national ensembles; F-M will be the only district representing Central New York at the conference.
The event, which will be held at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort, features the top concert bands, mixed choirs, symphony orchestras and jazz ensembles in America.
To be considered for All-National, students must qualify for their state-level honor ensemble program and submit an audition video. And of those most elite high school musicians, only the top-performing students are chosen for the national program.
Lucy, who plays the bassoon, will perform with the national concert band ensemble under the baton of Dr. T. André Feagin, Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Coastal Carolina University.
