Board of Education appoints new interim leadership at Eagle Hill Middle School

At its meeting on December 9th, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Maureen McCrystal, effective December 6, 2024. McCrystal had served as the principal of Eagle Hill Middle School since 2008.

At the same meeting, the Board of Education appointed Dr. Karen A. Liparulo to serve as interim principal and Paula Kopp to serve as interim assistant principal for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.

Dr. Liparulo has served as the assistant principal of Eagle Hill since the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. Prior to that, Dr. Liparulo was an assistant principal at F-M High School, a position she held for nearly 9 years.

Kopp has a wealth of experience in K-12 administrative positions, including having previously served as interim principal at Eagle Hill during the 2021-22 school year (when McCrystal took an extended leave of absence), interim assistant principal at Wellwood Middle School, and most recently as interim assistant principal at F-M High School last year.

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Maureen McCrystal for her many years of dedicated service to the children of the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District,” said Dr. Craig Tice, Superintendent of Schools. “While we have every confidence in the interim building leadership for the remainder of the academic year, we would also like to extend our gratitude to Maureen for all of her accomplishments and achievements over the years; acknowledge that we will miss her as part of the administrative team; and wish her much success in her future endeavors.”

The appointments of Dr. Liparulo and Ms. Kopp are effective immediately.

The district expects to conduct a comprehensive search in the near future to permanently fill the Eagle Hill principal position for the start of the 2025-26 school year.
