FMHS Musical Theatre Presents “The Prom: School Edition”

The Fayetteville-Manlius High School Musical Theatre program is proud to announce its upcoming production of “The Prom: School Edition,” a vibrant show that highlights the importance of kindness, solidarity, and standing up for one another in challenging times. This reimagined version of the acclaimed Broadway musical offers engaging entertainment that speaks to the heart of small-town life and highlights the importance of friendship and empathy.

The show will run for five performances on March 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7 p.m., with a special matinee performance on March 15 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at the Fayetteville-Manlius High School Auditorium, and tickets are available for purchase online.

At its core, “The Prom: School Edition” is about a local high school navigating a conflict over whether to accept a same-sex couple at their prom, balancing traditions with respecting individual choices. When four visiting Broadway performers discover the situation, they offer support in their own theatrical way. Throughout the show, personal growth and neighborly values drive the narrative, illustrating how understanding and cooperation can bridge differences and bring a community closer together. The “School Edition” features a slightly reworked script, making it ideal for high school casts while preserving all the energy, humor, and heart of the original Broadway production.

This production features a dedicated cast of Fayetteville-Manlius students in grades 9–12, supported by an all-student orchestra and stage crew. Their teamwork and commitment showcase the district’s devotion to fostering talent, leadership, and collaboration.

Join us for an uplifting evening that honors the best of small-town spirit and the inspiring power of coming together for a common cause.

FMHS will put on "The Prom: School Edition" as its spring musical in March, 2025.
