The district uses a centralized registration process that begins at the F-M District Office. Eligible families may register online, by mail, in person or by email. Unless otherwise indicated, this page is applicable to registration for students enrolling into kindergarten through grade 12.
In person registration is accepted by our registrar Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During the summer months, in person registration is accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Enrollment in our school district is based on your home address. Please review our attendance zone lists, located under the “Helpful Links” section on this page, for more information about school building assignment. If you are enrolling a kindergarten student, your child must reach age 5 on or before December 1 during the year of enrollment.

Registration Instructions
All students being registered into grades K through 12 are required to submit the documents listed below.
- Registration forms – part one and part two
- Proof of student’s age (birth certificate, passport, etc.)
- Student’s current immunization records
- Student’s health examination form (on the New York State form)
- Proof of residency – one of the following items:
- Signed rental agreement/lease, including a pre-possession agreement
- Deed or mortgage statement
- Sworn statement by a third party establishing the parent’s/guardian’s physical presence in the district
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Voter registration/Income tax return
- Utility bill, credit card bill, insurance bill, etc.
- NOTE: Property tax bills are not accepted as proof of residency
- Home language questionnaire (available online in 43 languages)
- Proof of guardianship/custody (if applicable), including the most recent court order on custody matters

Registration in person
- Collect the documents from the list above
- Come to the F-M District Office, 8199 E. Seneca Turnpike, Manlius, NY 13104, during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the summer months) to turn in your registration forms and supplemental documents.
Your student(s) can start school more quickly if you provide the documents indicated above at the time of registration, as well as a copy of prior school records: report card or high school transcript and, if applicable, the most recent IEP or 504 plan.
Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) Registration
The Fayetteville-Manlius School District offers a full-day universal prekindergarten (UPK) program for four-year-old children who reside within the F-M district. More information about the program, including how to register, is available here.

All registrations are subject to residency verification.
The district has strict guidelines for class size. Because of this, there may be times when a particular school will be unable to accommodate your child when the school is at capacity. In this case, the district will provide transportation to another school within the district.
You will be contacted by the main office of your student’s school to arrange for a building tour. Students enrolling in middle school or high school may call the school building to set up a counseling appointment to design a class schedule.
Bussing will be automatically set up for your student(s). Bus times and numbers can be found on the Transportation Department page of our website. If your student will need transportation to and from a licensed daycare within the district or an unlicensed daycare provider within your school’s attendance zone please complete the form found on the Transportation Department webpage.
Information about our school breakfast and lunch program, including an application for free/reduced meals, our home-school association (like a parent-teacher organization) and log-ins to our student information systems will follow after your registration is complete.
Special Circumstances
Families in Temporary Housing and Migrant Families
The Fayetteville-Manlius School District welcomes families living in temporary housing and migrant families/students in accordance with New York State Education Law and the federal McKinney-Vento Act. Please complete the housing questionnaire if you feel that this circumstance applies to you.
Private or parochial school enrollment
For families with students attending private or parochial schools, New York State requires each school district to account for all school-age children. Therefore, parents/guardians are required to register their children with the school district in which they reside (their home district). This meets state reporting requirements and informs the transportation department in the child’s home district to be aware of potential busing needs. Families need only submit the registration form for homeschool, private school and CPSE students, located under the “Helpful Links” section on this page, and one proof of residency from the list above and proof of age.
Homeschooling your student(s)
In accordance with New York State law, the district requests that families who wish to homeschool their student(s) submit the registration form for homeschool, private school and CPSE students, located under the “Helpful Links” section on this page, proof of age and one proof of residency from the list above. Preschool students eligible for special services
The district requires that families of preschool age students who are eligible for special services submit the registration form for homeschool, private school and CPSE students, located under the “Helpful Links” section on this page, proof of age and one proof of residency from the list above. Please contact the Special Services Department for more information at (315) 692-1208.
Address changes
For address changes within the district, please complete a change of address form and submit to the district office one item showing the parent or guardian’s name and address, from the list above

Immunization information
The New York State Education Department requires an annual physical exam for new students, students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11; sports, working permits and triennially for the Committee on Special Education. All students must have record of having receiving the proper immunizations prior to starting school. It is recommended that parents and guardians discuss the requirements and address any questions or concerns with their child’s physician.
Daily building schedules
- Elementary schools (grades K-4): 8:45 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.
- Middle schools (grades 5-8): 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- High school (grades 9-12): 7:45 a.m. to 2:07 p.m.

Morning and afternoon bus transportation will automatically be set up for each student. If your student(s) does not need transportation, please contact the Transportation Department at 315-692-1218.
