The Fayetteville-Manlius School District Board of Education elected a new president and vice president for the 2024-25 school year.
During the board’s annual re-organizational meeting on July 2, board members elected Sarah Fitzgerald to serve as board president and Rebecca Cohen as vice president. The positions are one-year terms.
Also during the meeting, Superintendent Craig J. Tice and two board members took the oath of office for their respective positions. In May, district residents re-elected Marissa Joy Mims to her sixth term and Daniel Seidberg to his third term. Each will serve a three-year term on the board, which began July 1.
In addition to the elected members, the board includes a non-voting student member. At the end of the 2023-24 school year, F-M High School students elected Esam Ahmed to serve as the student board member. The student, who serves a one-year term, attends all public board meetings and is allowed to participate in all public discussions. The student board member also shares feedback and information from the student body directly with the board at each regular board meeting.
