Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s Director of Facilities Geoff Brown was recently recognized for the professional contributions he’s made throughout his career.

During the New York State School Facilities Association’s (NYSSFA) annual conference, Mr. Brown received the 2024 Member of the Year Award.

The peer-nominated award recognizes a member of NYSSFA whose leadership, mentorship and service has had a positive impact on the association and its members.

Mr. Brown has served as a director of facilities and been a member of NYSSFA for almost nine years, and has been with F-M since March 2023.

NYSSFA is a professional organization for directors of school facilities, facilities managers, head custodians, health and safety coordinators, and other key school facilities personnel who serve more than 700 public schools across New York State. NYSSFA provides its members with professional development opportunities, legal advice, facilities resources, education and training, according to their website.

Mr. Brown is serving his third term as the State Director of NYSSFA’s Mid-State Chapter, acting as a liaison between the local chapter and the NYSSFA Board of Directors. He is vice chair of NYSSFA’s Legislative Task Force and Corporate Partnership Taskforce, and is a member of the Professional Practice Committee. He also serves as an advocate, meeting with New York State legislators to educate them on facility issues affecting schools statewide.
