District aware of police investigation involving F-M teacher who recently resigned

Dear Fayetteville-Manlius parents and guardians,

During the evening of Thursday, June 27, Fayetteville-Manlius School District officials were contacted by the Town of Manlius Police Department and made aware of an investigation involving Wellwood Middle School teacher Tucker McKeown. McKeown is alleged to have sent illicit messages to two Wellwood students via the social media platform Snapchat. The students’ parents reported the messages to police, who promptly began an investigation. McKeown was arrested Friday, June 28.

In May, the F-M Board of Education accepted McKeown’s resignation, effective June 30, 2024. At the time of resignation, the board was unaware of any inappropriate conduct. McKeown, who joined the district in 2022, cited relocation out of the area as the reason for his resignation. His last day at the school was Wednesday, June 26.

We understand that this news may be upsetting for members of our school community and we’ll continue to work closely with the Town of Manlius Police Department in their investigation. As always, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority.

According to police, no other victims have been identified at this time, but the investigation is ongoing. If you or your child have any information, please contact the Town of Manlius Police Department immediately at 315-682-2212.

Sincerely,

Craig J. Tice, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
