Four Fayetteville-Manlius High School students had the honor of being named finalists in the Bousquet Holstein PLLC 14th Annual Photography Contest.
Each year, hundreds of entries are submitted by high school students in grades 9 through 12 from Onondaga and Tompkins counties and more than 20 finalists are recognized.
This year, the following F-M students from Brittney Culican’s Advanced Photography III class were named finalists:
- Anthony Ahn
- Julianna Hall
- Emma Levy
- Katie Stevens
Anthony Ahn was awarded 1st place in the contest. The accolade included a monetary award, a donation to Brittney Culican’s photography class and the distinction of having the winning image featured on the Bousquet Holstein PLLC 2022 Thanksgiving card, which is mailed to over 7,500 of the firm’s clients, colleagues and friends.
Julianna Hall also received a monetary award for one of her entries that placed 3rd in the contest.
The theme of the contest every year has been inspired by an exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art. This year’s theme, Forever is Composed of Nows, was inspired by a 2022 exhibition that was inspired by a poem written by Emily Dickinson in 1862.
Student photographers were challenged to capture the essence of their “now” that expressed their place in the infiniteness of forever.
