In September, restroom renovations and the installation of air conditioning was completed at Mott Road Elementary School.
Some of the building’s restrooms underwent work to ensure they are accessible for all students and staff members. The heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) building control systems were upgraded and an air conditioning system was installed. This allows for all student occupied spaces to be air conditioned, creating more comfortable, learner-friendly spaces, and improves indoor air quality.
The work was funded by the district’s capital transfer funds. In May 2023, voters approved the 2023-24 proposed school budget, which authorized the district to spend up to $2 million in capital transfer funds to cover the majority of the work. In May 2024, voters approved the 2024-25 proposed school budget, which authorized the district to spend $650,000 in capital transfer funds to cover the remaining work.
Capital transfer funds are used for high priority, smaller scale building and/or reconstruction projects in any of the district’s buildings or grounds.
The district will receive New York State building aid at approximately 81.9% of the cost for the projects.
More work planned for Mott Road

The capital project work and remaining HVAC work is expected to begin in summer 2025, pending New York State Education Department approval, and would be expected to be completed in fall 2025.
