A group of Fayetteville-Manlius High School students are about to test their historical knowledge on a national stage.
Members of F-M’s History Bee & Bowl team recently qualified to compete May 15 and 16 in the National History Bee & Bowl. Founded in 2010 by “Jeopardy!” game show champion David Madden, the National History Bee & Bowl is a buzzer-based trivia competition that features questions about the history of the arts, sciences, religion, philosophy, language, historical geography, sports and entertainment.
F-M’s team includes juniors PeiLin Lu, Jason Porter, Joseph Stewart, Miranda Zheng and Elena Coman. They placed 15 out of 40 teams nationally at the April 10 Spring League History Bowl Competition, which due to COVID-19 was held online. The national championship competition will also take place online.
F-M High School U.S. History and Participation in Government teacher Ryan Aldrich advises the club, which has met weekly online to prepare for the competitions.
