If you see drones hovering around Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s buildings this week, don’t be alarmed – they’re being used in conjunction with a planned safety and security audit of the district.
In July, the F-M Board of Education hired two security firms – True Security Design and CLPS – to conduct full audits of the district, focusing on four key areas: access to school district buildings and grounds, surveillance, communications and emergency management plans.
Starting Sept. 17, True Security Design will be on campus and utilizing drones to capture wide-angle aerial images of the school buildings. The drones will help provide True Security Design with increased vantage points as it assesses the district’s safety and security measures.
The safety and security audit is expected to be presented to the board of education in October.
