Bird Watching Club
Tuesdays, Mrs. DiMento, Room 207B
Birdwatcher, twitcher, or birder…If you are interested in learning about North American birds, then this club is for you. You will learn characteristics of birds and how to identify them. Bring your binoculars (some will be available at the club), and, weather permitting, some classes will be outside to birdwatch and journal what we see.

Book Bingo is open to grades 5 and 6.
Bookends Club
First Wednesday of every month
This club is open to students in grades 5-8 who enjoy reading with elementary students. Our club will walk to Fayetteville Elementary to share books with a K-2 class. Sometimes we will be the readers, and other times we will be the listeners. Your only responsibility is to come prepared each week with a great book, or 3, to share. See Mrs. Buelow, Mrs. Nestor or Mrs. DiMento with questions!
Boondoggle Club
Thursdays, Mrs. Cicci, Project Room 126
Learn to do fun types of boondoggle such as: corkscrew, zipper and spiral. You will also learn how to start a boondoggle. There are a few different levels that you will be taught. Once you master a level you will receive a certificate and a candy of your choice. You will also get a started boondoggle for you to do at home.
Chalk Club
Tuesdays, Ms. St. Amour, Room 5-2
Go outside, weather permitting, and make drawings with chalk! The club will meet until it’s too cold outside, and then we will resume in the spring.
Chess Club

Coding Club

This club has two main components; the first part of this club is to take part in fun coding activities that we use to learn how computers work, and to create fun things (like websites, games and more)! The second part of this club is a mentoring program where high school programming students work with middle school students on specific coding programs.
Courtyard Club

Students from all grades are welcome to join us in these activities: exploring sustainability, growing herbs and vegetables to make pizza together, planning new uses and structures, weeding, feeding our bird families, and keeping the courtyard a clean and safe learning space.
Crafting Club

We will make crafts such as bracelets, clay and much more.
Creative Writing Club

Students will come to write creatively and explore different writing competitions they can enter throughout the year! We will explore different genres, poetry, narrative, news articles and enter our writing to get published!
Drawing Club

Students can gather, share and learn new ways of drawing!
Dungeons & Dragons Club

Dungeons and Dragons Club is for anyone who wants to play a game of fantasy, adventure, and fun. You don’t need any experience to join; we will teach you! You can make a character or use one of ours. So, are you ready to step into a world of fantasy? All grades are welcome!
Fantasy Football Club
Tuesdays, Mr. Guidone, Room 104
Fantasy Football Club is a club in which students select and manage a team of professional football players. The football players earn points based on their performances in real games. Each week, students use newspapers or online resources to locate their player’s statistics in order to find out how many points were earned by their team. The goal of the game is to accumulate the highest number of points.
Four Square Club
First Thursday of every month, Mrs. Keeney, Room 5-5
This club is open to grades 5 and 6 only. We play the game four square outside, and we play the game with no mini games. We will meet as long as the weather is nice, and we will pause during winter months.
French Club
Once every month
We focus on fun, interactive experiences that showcase the customs and traditions of different French-speaking countries. Meeting dates and locations will be announced during French classes and on the morning announcements leading up to each meeting. This club is only for students that are currently taking French.
Intramurals
Mondays and Wednesdays grades 5 and 6; Tuesdays grades 7 and 8
Intramurals are for all grade levels.
Japanese Club

Are you interested in learning more about Japan? Japanese Club will give students a chance to explore Japanese culture through its language, art, movies and games. This club is open to students in grades 5 and 6.
Kindness Club

Uniting students to create a positive environment in school and out. We will make crafts, discuss community projects and create a kindness movement.
Magic: The Gathering Club
Mondays, Mr. Arena, Room 5-7
Magic: The Gathering Club is a trading card game for all students who want an imaginative, complex game to play casually or competitively. Bring your own cards or cards are provided!
Math League
Wellwood Math League is open to any interested students in grades 6-8. The Wellwood Math League will participate in the Onondaga County Junior High Math League competition for the 2024-2025 school year. There are 4 meets that will be held during enrichment period (2:50-3:30). The first meet will be in October. The Wellwood Math League Travel Team will be determined based on the results of the first four meets. Please listen to morning announcements for more details.
P2 Crew

The Positivity Project is in full swing at Wellwood! We need your strengths for lots of fun activities! These may include, opportunities to help On My Team 16, art activities to decorate the school, fundraising events and many other fun deeds that show ‘Other People Matter’! Open to all students.
Pokémon Club

Do you collect Charizard, Charmander or Bulbasaur cards? If so, Pokémon Club is for you! All are welcome. We will trade cards, discuss Pokémon and battle, but no electronics are allowed.
Pops Choir

Open to all students in grades 5 and 6 who enjoy singing popular songs. Repertoire includes music from movies, broadway shows, and popular singers. Makeup rehearsals are on Thursdays.

Reading Club/Battle of the Books Practice

Cozy up in a quiet space in the library and read, or practice with your Battle of the Books team.
Recess Club
Wednesdays, Mr. Socker, Room 101
This club is open to grades 5 and 6 only. Everyone meets in the classroom and it proceeds as a normal 5th grade recess. The teacher decides if we go outside or if we have an indoor recess. This club is weather permitting.
Running Club
Thursdays, Room 308
The Running Club is open to all students in grades 5-8 who are interested in sneaking in a quick workout around campus while the weather is nice! Students are encouraged to walk, run and focus on their mental well-being. Seasoned athletes and first time runners are more than welcome to join our club! Running Club meets until it gets too cold outside.
School Store
The School Store is open daily after school. Healthy snacks may be purchased throughout the year. The school store is located next to the Counseling Office. Student volunteers staff the store. All proceeds benefit a child-centered organization or charity. School Store meetings will be held throughout the year.
Student Council
Once every month on Wednesdays
Show your leadership and school spirit by serving on the Wellwood Student Council (grades 5-8). This organization will focus on service and leadership as well as make decisions that will help to make our school an even better place! Among many other things, the Student Council raises money for various organizations and promotes school spirit. Wellwood is looking for at least one Student Council representative from each homeroom.
Unified Friends
Last Tuesday of every month, Mrs. Maloney and Mrs. Benz, Room 112
This club is for all students interested in building community. We will celebrate our unique qualities and abilities by participating in fun, inclusive activities. Come join us for games, crafts, cooking, and more!
Walking Club
Tuesdays, Room 209
Walking Club is a way to relax at the end of the day and get a little bit of exercise. Anyone who wants to walk and chat with friends after school should join us. We will meet when the weather is nice. We will go for a walk outside around Wellwood from 2:50-3:30. We will not meet when it rains or snows. We will take a break in the winter and resume once spring comes around.
Yearbook Club

Yearbook Club is for all grade levels. Students plan and create the Wellwood yearbook; take photographs; and make decisions on artwork, cover, photos and design.
